Apple's high-end laptop gets better battery life and a lower price

The Good The second generation of Apple's Retina-screen MacBook Pro adds internal upgrades to its Wi-Fi, Thunderbolt, SSD, graphics card, and CPU. The result is a faster laptop with better battery life and a lower starting price.
The Bad The changes are internal-only, and not significant enough to upgrade if you have last year's version. At $1,999 to start, this is still a very expensive laptop. Both the 13-inch MacBook Air and Pro have much better battery life.
The Bottom Line The slimmer body and higher-res screen of the original Retina MacBook Pro were a revolutionary leap. This revamp adds modest internal upgrades for modest improvements, but price cuts to both the 13-inch and 15-inch models sweeten the deal.

Sony has expanded its 4K collection, with the company’s CES press conference seeing the Japanese tech giant unveil a new 65-inch Sony Bravia 4K TV dubbed the Sony XBR-65X900A.

Lining up alongside a new 55-inch 4K model, the newly unveiled Sony XBR-65X900A 65-inch 4K TV joins the existing 84-inch 4K offering as a UHD offering from the Bravia manufacturer that also took the opportunity of CES 2013 to launch a range of revised LED models.

“The 2013 Bravia line continues our acclaimed commitment to delivering the best picture quality at every model segment and with two new sizes, the amazing 4K TV experience will now be within reach of many more consumers,” Mike Lucas, senior vice president of Sony Electronics’ Home Division said.

“The 84-inch XBR 4K LED TV is an impressive sight and a status symbol for sure, but these new sizes mean that the beauty of Sony 4K can be experienced in any home environment.”

Far from a simple specs sheet booming title, the Sony Bravia XBR-65X900A’s 4K credentials see the unit rock stunning picture quality with the four-times Full HD resolution setting the device out as a league apart from most modern LED offerings.

Whilst the unit’s Triluminos display sports LED backlighting from bolder, more true-to-life colours, the 4K TV benefits from a selection of Smart TV features, with integrated Wi-Fi connectivity options helping users gain instant access to Sony’s Smart TV solutions.
